Dundasite (extremely rare)

Item Description

An extremely rare specimen of the hydrated lead aluminum hydroxy carbonate Dundasite from the prolific Tsumeb Mine. This species was named after Dundas, Tasmania, and was first found at the Adelaide Mine. The specimens from Tsumeb are incredibly hard to find, as they are often overlooked by collectors or missed completely as they are often not noticed among the beautiful Azurite and Malachite associations. The Dundasite crystals on this specimen appear in the form of micro white acicular "needle"-like "sprays" which are intermixed among the beautiful rich blue Azurite plus chatoyant green Malachite and minor Cerussite. It's certainly a micro specimen, and we have photographed the specimen with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality and enhance the detail. This is the only piece of this species that we have to offer of this fantastic material from Tsumeb. A great piece for species collectors or a Tsumeb collector!
