Dumortierite (rare)

Item Description

Dumortierite is a rather rare gem, and is only found in a few world localities in facettable material. This stone is from a lesser known locality in Madagascar. The color of this stone is a saturated blue shade, and is essentially opaque with a "Square Cushion Cabochon" cut. I've only seen a few of these stones over the years, and rarely are they this size. This gem is a great rarity indeed, and would make a good additional to any rare stone suite. It's also a very hard mineral (8.5 Mohs), and is more than durable enough to stand up in all kinds of jewelry.
