Item Description
Dumortierite is an uncommon complex Al borosilicate. All sides of the matrix are richly covered with pretty violet microcrystals. Specimens from this obscure California locale are seldom on the market. Old-time, rare material from an East Coast collection. It comes with a Hugh Ford label dating from 1946-57 and an even older faded and torn label from the Smithsonian Museum. A MUST for the species or California collector with a fine provenance.
