Item Description

Dehesa is well known for producing some iconic specimens of crystallized Dumortierite. The color ranges from pinkish to purple, but the most important aspect of the specimens is that they feature sharp, euhedral crystals on matrix. This piece is an attractive display specimen featuring a semi-radial "spray" of sharp, purplish, prismatic crystals of Dumortierite measuring up to 2.5 cm on Muscovite matrix. Good quality and eye-catching for the species! Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#5862). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
