Item Description
Tsumeb is well-known for its pseudomorphs and replacments, sometimes showing more than just two generations. This small cabinet is a beautiful specimen featuring translucent olive green botyroids of Duftite which has pseudomorphed after fairly large preexisting tetrahedral crystals of Tennantite. You can clearly tell that this is a pseudomorph as the piece doesn't have nearly the necessary heft that one would expect from a piece of solid Tennantite this size. Additionally, there appears to be small prismatic crystals of what would be Mimetite, or possibly a different form of Duftite on the exterior edges of the pseudomorph. The largest crystal measures 4.7 cm across, which is good sized for Tennantite worldwide, not just from Tsumeb. The piece is accompanied by labels from the collection of Dr. Mark Feinglos and a dealer label from David New. Great quality, form, aesthetics and color on this classic eye-cacthing pseudomorph. Valued at $950.
