Duftite (excellent crystals)

Duftite is an uncommon lead copper arsenate species which is found in a good number of localities around the world, but it's rarely found in display quality specimens. Often, the species is found as an association to a more predominant mineral species, but the superb old classics from the Mount Bonnie Mine in Australia are almost certainly the finest display quality pieces of the species ever found. Most of you are probably familiar with Duftite from Tsumeb, but it's rarely well-crystallized, and it's usually a surface coating on another mineral or the matrix. This specimen is a showy small cabinet featuring dozens of clusters of attractive olive-green colored Duftite measuring up to about 5 mm across sitting on oxidized matrix. I can't see much damage anywhere, and it looks great up close and when its displayed on a shelf. If you collect secondary ore minerals, you need one of these excellent Duftites in your collection, as the mine is long closed, and you'll probably never see these again on the market. Priced at $1,250 for size quality and the fact that they are the best of the species in terms of eye-visible crystals on displayable specimens.
