Item Description
Dufrenite is a rare, secondary mineral of calcium, iron phosphate commonly found in iron ore deposits and in vein gossans. A well-placed vug in hematite matrix is lined with lustrous, blue-green, dufrenite botryoids. The two, broken botryoids reveal the radial growth pattern of the dufrenite, which to me, is a really nifty feature. This fine, OLD-TIMER comes from a CLASSIC Cornwall locality - the famous Wheal Phoenix. The piece comes with an expertly handwritten, faded label from an older collection. The collection this came out of was a museum stash dating to prior to World War I. Easily over 100 years old.
