Item Description

Dufrenite is a lesser seen calcium iron phosphate, and this particular piece is the very first piece we've ever had to offer from this locality. One of the old hand-written labels accompanying the piece simply states that it is from "Siegen", and it very well could be from the Eisenzecher Zug Mine, which is the only mine in Siegen where the species has been reported. With that said, this small cabinet hosts greenish colored micro Dufrenite sitting on brown Limonite matrix. A great old time specimen with cool provenance that would make a great addition to a rarities suite or a collection of old German minerals Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12398). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
