DT twinned Calcite on Sphalerite (Larry Conklin Coll.)

An 8.0 cm, doubly terminated and twinned, gem light amber calcite crystal is dramatically set atop rubyjack sphalerite matrix on this very aesthetic small cabinet from the less well-known Gordonsville Mine. Quality calcites with this clarity, glassiness and luster are RARE from this mine, which is adjacent to the renowned Elmwood Mine. Complete all-around and nearly pristine. The back of the upper termination is cleaved, which is certainly only a modest detraction to this sculptural, excellent and rare specimen from the Larry Conklin Collection.
