Item Description

A showy and RARE combination from the well-known Audrey Lynn Mine of Riverside County. The pegmatite is best known for aquamarine and smoky quartz crystals. Both schorl and spessartine garnet are rare. The 6.9 cm doubly terminated, lustrous, jet-black, trigonal schorl crystal is set next to a 1.6 cm lustrous, translucent orange-brown subhedral spessartine garnet crystal, which GLOWS orange-red when backlit. The schorl is complete all-around and essentialy pristine. The one clean repair in the middle is certainly acceptable in the context of pegmatite species. The pieces are from the 1990s collecting effort by Phil Osborn. See: https://www.mindat.org/loc-55916.html for more information on the mine. Ex Bill Larson San Diego County Collection and long on display at his Pala International shop in Fallbrook. Double your pleasure with this RARE and excellent two-piece lot from the Audrey Lynn Mine. These are simply not for sale at any price and we were fortunate to get this old collection of such treasures. When they are gone...they are gone!
