Sapphires from Sri Lanka set the standard for form and quality of the species and this is gem of a 2-piece deal of highly desirable cornflower-blue crystals. The gemmy, doubly terminated, tapered, floater crystals are variable cornflower-blue. The typically layered crystals both have clay inclusioins. 32.77 carats total mass. Complete all-around. Both crystals have a gently bruised termination, which is certainly only a modest detraction. Classic form, desirable color and good gemminess. Not too many around these days. They are all heated, cut, and sold to the crazy Chinese market that is buying up as much as they can.
