Item Description
A beautiful, stout, doubly terminated, classic pigeons blood-red, ruby crystal is sheathed in platy, neon-green, mavinite blades and is dramatically attached to a sculpted ball of albite on this striking specimen. The textbook hexagonal ruby is lustrous and is partially translucent. Mavinite is a unique green brittle mica found only at Karnataka, India. It is intermediate between "xanthophyllite" (= clintonite) and chloritoid and is not recognized as a distinct mineral species. Irregardless, this is a pristine, very rare and excellent example of the combination species and locale. Valued $600-800.
