Item Description
A fine old-time doubly terminated gem kunzite from the famed Pala Chief Mine. The sharply terminated, very glassy crystal has rich lilac color with typical well-striated prism faces and high waxy luster. Embedded matrix on one termination and a trivial amount of included matrix are noted but certainly have negligible impact to the high quality of this classic old-timer from the Kay Robertson Collection # 4939. She acquired this piece from Sol Shale in the mid-1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). It certainly has some cutter quality kunzite. 27 grams mass. BETTER in person!
