Item Description
A 8.5 cm, doubly terminated and twinned calcite crystal dominates this sculptural cluster of intergrown crystals from the famous Elmwood Mine. Highly lustrous, the gemmy crystals have fine light yellow color. The striking sharp water-clear tapered termination opposed by the smaller attached crystals at the other end - looks like a fish tail - make for an artistic specimen. The bit of attached limestone matrix adds character. The small cleave on the main termination is certainly only a modest detraction and actually adds a bit of architectural flair to the piece. Ex Kay Robertson Collection with no number. Kay purchased a selection of Elmwood calcites in the 1980s or 90s and this is an excellent example of this style.
