Item Description
Fine gemminess and light cornflower-blue color highlights this excellent doubly terminated sapphire crystal from Ratnapura. It has classic, striated, tapered form and high luster. One termination is water-clear. Most such crystals are all heated, cut, and sold to the crazy Chinese market that is buying up as much as they can. Choice material from the Kay Robertson Collection # 12652. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). Interesting yellow LW UV fluorescence. 25.07 carats or 5 grams mass.
