DT gemmy Indicolite Tourmaline (20 grams)

Item Description

A very fine and deceptive gemmy indicolite tourmaline from the circa 2010 finds at the famous Pederneira Mine. The extremely glassy, well-striated trigonal crystal has a beautiful teal-blue body with only light layering. The primary pinacoidal termination is deceptive, in that this is a pretty purple cap with a 6 mm sky-blue zone below. The crystal is technically doubly terminated, as the broken base is rehealed and has a green hue. The projecting tourmalines on the sides and the overgrowth of pink tourmaline at the base with a bit of lepidolite add pizzazz to this excellent 360-degree gem crystal. One very clean repair, just below the upper projecting small tourmaline is certainly acceptable in the context of pegmatite species. A classic and excellent gem indicolite from the find and locale. 20 grams mass. BETTER in person.
