Item Description

A RARE and serious 360-degree smoky quartz crystal from the famed Himalaya Mine, that is a complete floater with terminations on top and on bottom. This gem, pristine, floater light smoky crystal is doubly termimated. The single sharp termination is a dramatic contrast to the multiple terminations on the other end. The water-clear prism has glass-clear, satin lustre and lightly frosted faces. Stepped-growth and modified prism faces plus the scattered embedded snow-white feldspar add much character to this outstanding crystal. Formerly in the Gene Meieran Collection, himself a world-class gem mineral collector. Ex Bill Larson San Diego County Pegmatite Collection and long on display at his Pala International shop in Fallbrook. Bill was the owner of the mine and collected the piece in the 1970s or 80s (sold it to Gene, and then got it back later!). It is a superb smoky quartz for San Diego, and has a presence and brightness to it. Really a good one!
