Item Description

Ruby specimens are very rare, compared to famous sapphires from Ratnapura. This is a very fine and sharp doubly terminated floater crystal compared to most specimens from this famous deposit. The lustrous, translucent crystal has textbook hexagonal form, fine coral-pink color and typical layering. The prism faces are frosted and lightly etched. Excellent and rare ruby from the Bob Trimingham Collection. 40.95 carats mass.
