Item Description

A striking doubly terminated, lustrous, transparent to opaque, brown gypsum blade from the famous Great Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge, near Jet, Oklahoma. The crystal has the classic "hour-glass" sand inclusions, for which the locality is renowned for. Complete all-around and very, very nearly pristine, TINY trivial termination edge wear to both ends of the crystal are noted, but are certainly modest detractions. Highly representative of this noted locale. The backlit photo highlights the "hour-glass" internal form and the very nifty "caverns" in the sharp spearpoint termination. It is almost impossible to find a totally pristine specimen. Ex Al Ordway Collection.
