Item Description

An exceptional and very uncommon doubly terminated floater eosphorite crystal from the famous pegmatites around Linopolis. The sharp orthorhombic prism has classic tabular form with a prominent wedge-shaped primary termination and split basal termination. The rich honey-brown, translucent crystal has striated, moderately satin lustre faces. Nearly pristine, with only one small spot of edge wear. Eosphorite is a fairly rare hydrated Mn-Al phosphate, usually found in phosphate-rich pegmatites. Some of the finest examples comes from the pegmatites of the Linopolis area.
