Item Description
Michigan copper in calcite specimens are certainly one of THE most desirable calcite varietals in the world. Most of them were produced prior to World War I, so good ones only come from recycled collections. Here, rich bright copper within a glassy, striated calcite scalenohedron presents a unique and very beautiful calcite specimen. This classic and aesthetic, old-time crystal is beautifully perched on matrix. The gorgeous doubly terminated crystal is 4.9 cm long and the little side car is a nice accent. The scalenohedron display face is pristine. From the front, it looks killer! There is a gentle cleave on the back of the termination ( out-of-sight from display view). This is a very fine, old-time representation of this very desirable calcite variety, of a unique style in the world. These are treasured in the US, and nothing like them occurs anywhere else in such quality. They mostly date to the late 1800s and early 1900s, as well. Valued at $1500 (even with a cleave on the back...if not, they tend to sell for quite a bit more in any aesthetics, in this good size range. So this is a chance to get one rather more affordably than usual, that still looks good).
