Item Description
Glassy, transparent to translucent, oxide-tinted, doubly terminated, elongated calcite scalenohedrons form an impressive and aesthetic large specimen from this well-known, abandoned iron mine. The calcite rosette on one side is a nifty accent. Complete all-around and nearly pristine. The three fat terminations are pristine. Two of the three slender terminations have gentle, barely noticeable cleaves. Rare in this large crystal size. Choice material. The accompanying label says Erzgebirge in Saxony, but this piece is from the Harz in Saxony-Anhalt. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection.
