DT Calcite w/ Siegenite on Pyrite, Marcasite & Sphalerite (Soregaroli Coll.)

Item Description

An adorable combination miniature from the famous extinct frigid Nanisivik Mine, located above the Arctic Circle. A striking 3.5 cm doubly terminated calcite crystal is aesthetically set on the combination sulfide matrix. The calcite has beautiful gem amber terminations with one end hosting included siegenite fingers. The very complex parallel-growth mid-section of the calcite adds much character. The calcite rests on a matrix of pyrite, sphalerite and marcasite. This Pb-Zn-Ag mine operated from 1976 to 2002 and hosts incredibly diverse forms of pyrite, that are unique to this locality (mindat).
