Item Description

An 8.8 cm, highly sculptural, doubly terminated calcite crystal is dramatically set on chert matrix with accenting sharp sphalerite crystals on this exceptional old-time large combination from the famous Mid-Continent Mine. The complex rounded crystal has beautiful amber color, waxy luster and nifty preferentially frosted and etched faces. There are more sphalerites on the base of the piece, adding pizzazz. The calcite is complete all-around and is essentially pristine, with only the most trivial of frontal scuffing and an out-of-sight contact on the left side, with a bit of attached matrix. A classic and outstanding combination from the Bob Trimingham Collection and acquired in 1968. Valued at $1250.
