Item Description

A very showy and aesthetic large combination specimen from the famous Shimen Mine of China. Gemmy, cherry-red, realgar crystals are clustered on transparent to translucent, lustrous, gray to near colorless, single and doubly terminated calcite scalenohedrons. The striking, large, compound, doubly terminated crystal (9.3 cm long) and little jewel crystal above are twinned. This fine combination piece is in great shape. One of the compound terminations is gently cleaved, a bit of periphery wear is noted to the realgar crystals and there is modest scattered periphery wear elsewhere, but have very little impact on the striking visual aspect of this beautiful piece. A choice large combination example of the species and locale from the Bob Trimingham Collection.
