Item Description

Mineral specimens from this less well-known open pit Namibia fine-grained gold mine are RARE, for obvious reasons. A striking sharp, glassy, doubly terminated calcite scalenohedron is dramatically set atop an opposing scalenohedron. The transparent to translucent prisms have satin lustre faces and have interesting unknown inclusions. A post on the MINDAT Photo Gallery for the locale indicates that "a number of these specimens were however offically removed and sold by the mine in the early 90's".
