Item Description
A 2.3 cm sharp afghanite is aesthetically set in matrix on this fine example from Sar-e-Sang. The doubly terminated crystal has rich sapphire-blue color, typically tapered terminations and exceptionally, moderate translucence. This rare complex aluminosilicate is one of the more obscure members of the Cancrinite Group. The matrix is peppered on both sides with sparkly tiny golden pyrites and fluoresces under both LW and SW UV light. From an East Coast collection. The former dealer label has a $475 price.
