Item Description

This is certainly the first specimen of this particular material that we've had to offer from Lissenthan (no specific mine was given on the label - though the piece could be from the Hermine Mine). The piece features a nearly full two-sided coverage of sparkling, drusy white Quartz has formed pseudomorphs ("casts") after preexisting "dogtooth" scalenohedral crystals of Calcite on matrix. A handful of golden and purple colored cubes of Fluorite measuring up to 6 mm can be seen on the top ridge of the piece for a nice accent. There are few spots on the specimen where the Quartz is contacted, and you can see that the original Calcite crystals have completely dissolved away, leaving some attractive hollow "casts" in areas. If you collect pseudomorphs / "casts", worldwide Quartz specimens or interesting pieces from Germany, don't miss out on this unique
Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#2346). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
