Item Description
Fascinating, sculptural, colorful and rare multi-generational small cabinet pseudomorph from this less well-known copper-cobalt mining area in the DR Congo - Tenke-Fungurume. The striking, numerous thin blades, to about 2.8 cm, were originally azurite and then pseudomorphed to malachite. The malachite pseudos were replaced by the beautiful rich turquoise-blue chrysocolla and then enhanced by the coating of scintillating drusy quartz. Finally, preferential coatings of starkly contrasting rust-red hematite dramatically enhance this impressive piece. The loose malachite nodule lodged in a vug on the back is a super accessory. A significant, artistic and rare pseudomorph from the obscure locale from finds around 2020. valued $2000.
