Item Description

A very unusual find: Chatoyant, sculptural, arborescent diverging sprays of acicular brownish-black dravite crystals are aesthetically scattered on the sculptural small cabinet matrix covered with quartz points. The dominating central spray is 3.5 cm tall. Originally marketed as schorl, extensive testing proved these to be all dravite. Ex Bill Panczner Collection : Bill was the first Curator of Earth Science at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum in 1974 and the author of the 1987 book Minerals of Mexico. It is the most thorough summary of the subject. Read about Bill in the Mineralogical Record Biographical Archive at: https://mineralogicalrecord.com/labels.asp?colid=841. A showy and excellent example of the combination species from the less well-known locale. These dark tourmalines on matrix are simply unique.
