Item Description

A sculptural 360-degree miniature cluster of intergrown dravite-schorl crystals accented with scattered patches of pearlescent biotite plates. The rare tourmaline is from a 2018 new find at this obscure Espirito Santo State locale. Tourmaline is not listed in the MINDAT locale. The crystal is Dravite (brown color)-Schorl. The highly lustrous, striated trigonal crystals have pyramidal terminations. Complete all-around and in great shape, with only trivial bruising. Specimens would have to be analyzed for a definitive composition result, but are probably a combination of dravite and schorl. The specimen appears to be black SCHORL in some photos, depending on lighting type, background and incidence. BUT, other photographic parameters reveal the beautiful mahogany color (Dravite) of the piece. 59 grams mass.
