Item Description

This stout textbook, lustrous, parallel-growth, trigonal tourmaline specimen appears to be black schorl in some photos, depending on lighting type, background and incidence. But, other photographic parameters reveal the beautiful mahogany color (dravite) of the piece. The rare tourmaline is from a 2018 new find at this obscure Espirito Santo State locale. Tourmaline is not listed in the MINDAT locale. This very sculptural 360-degree miniature specimen is dravite-schorl. The aesthetic, stepped parallel-growth trigonal crystal has densely striated prism faces and the few protruding side car crystals add pizzazz. The modified pyramidal termination is highly lustrous. Complete all-around and in great shape. The bit of bruising is out-of-sight in the preferred display view. Specimens would have to be analyzed for a definitive composition result, but are probably a combination of dravite and schorl. 110 grams mass.
