Item Description

This is the largest RARE dravite-schorl tourmaline we received in a small lot from a 2018 NEW FIND at this obscure Espirito Santo State locale! Tourmaline is not listed in the MINDAT locale and there is only two previously shown tourmalines of ours, with no other specimens of ANY species in the locality Photo Gallery. This is an expressive large trigonnal crystal with very high lustre and densely striated prism faces. The unusual modified pyramidal termination is super lustrous. The specimen appears to be black SCHORL in some photos, depending on lighting type, background and incidence. BUT, other photographic parameters reveal the beautiful mahogany color (DRAVITE) of the piece. Specimens would have to be analysed for a definitive composition result, but are probably a combination of dravite and schorl. Complete all-around and essentially pristine, with only impressions of where smaller crystals once lay. 86 grams mass. An exceptional and rare large tourmaline from the locale.
