Item Description

A classic and not often seen matrix specimen of Dravite from the famous locality at Power's Farm, Pierrepont, New York. The piece features the well known trigonal stout crystals with the beautiful lustrous smooth faces that made these some of the most well known Tourmalines (especially opaque Tourmalines) in the world. The largest crystal measusres 1.2 cm, which is decent sized for the locality, and the matrix is composed of etched, semi-smoky colored Quartz crystals. The piece came to us from the collection of Colorado geologist, Allen Heyl, the namesake for Aheylite. It is originally labeled as a Tourmaline, but I firmly believe this is specifically a Dravite, as the vast majority of these specimens are Dravite.
