Item Description
Emeralds from this short-lived emerald mine, 1909-1913, are EXTREMELY RARE and are seldom available. This doubly terminated, translucent and lustrous crystal has fine, rich green color. The iron oxide-coated striated face could be cleaned and would certainly enhance the crystal. An old label is attached to the base. The contacted back shows the glassiness and rich green color. Further information on this locality can be found at: http://www.mindat.org/article.php/235/Emeralds+of+the+Old+Plantation+Mine,+Shelby,+North+Carolina. A historic and very rare North Carolina emerald. 28.33 carats. A must for the locality or species collector. Value???
