Item Description
Michigan copper in calcite specimens are certainly one of THE most desirable calcite varietals in the world. Most of them were produced prior to World War I, so good ones only come from recycled collections. Here, bright copper within a glassy, striated calcite scalenohedron presents a unique and very beautiful calcite specimen. This classic and aesthetic, old-time crystal is beautifully perched atop matrix, which includes copper crystals and malachite. The gorgeous doubly terminated crystal is 4.0 cm long and the two side cars crystals are a super, nice accent. There's even a bit of red accent (cuprite? oxidized copper?). The scalenohedron is complete all-around and is essentially pristine, with only very trivial edge wear. This is an outstanding, old-time representation of this very desirable calcite variety, of a unique style in the world. These are treasured in the US, at least. Valued at $2000-2500.
