Item Description
Sharp calcite crystals are VERY RARE from any of the numerous Emery County, Utah localities listed by MINDAT. A 3.3 cm, exquisite, 360-degree doubly terminated complex calcite rhomb is aesthetically set in the matrix of what appears to be celestine crystals. The translucent crystal has fine straw-yellow color with satin lustre faces, that GLOW golden-yellow when back lit! The rhomb is dramatically layered, with some faces being smooth, while other faces have striking preferential dense stepped-growth. Interesting growth chemistry here. Complete all-around and very nearly pristine, with only a trivial scuff near the termination. An exceptional and RARE calcite combination from the Green River area more famous for sandstone fossil fish!
