Item Description

A RARE and highly desirable 5.1 cm doubly terminated beryl crystal is dramatically set in the pegmatite matrix of this classic, old-timer from this well-known, long extinct feldspar quarry. The sharp hexagonal crystal has interesting green color, luster, moderately translucent on the edges and faces and is mostly opaque. The pegmatite matrix consists of feldspar, smoky quartz and muscovite. The quarry was first worked in 1872 (MINDAT). Doubly terminated matrix beryl specimens of this quality are HARD to obtain today. A Connecticut classic from the broad and important collections of Dick Hauck, founder and owner of the Sterling Hill Mining Museum.
