Item Description

A unique, old-time large North Carolina quartz from the University of Delaware Collection. There are striking, doubly terminated, glassy, quartz scepters at each end of this dramatic, barbell-looking specimen. The second generation scepters are much glassier and more translucent than the bar and all parts of the piece are pseudohexagonal. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, there is just a bit of contacting/roughness on both terminations. I would say, that this piece is around 100 years old. An extremely rare varietal from Alexander County. A must for the quartz, locality or unusual form collector. NOTE THE NUMBERS ON BACK INDICATE THIS IS FROM THE COLLECTION OF NOTED GEMOLOGIST, CIRCA 1900, George Kunz, AFTER WHOM KUNZITE IS NAMED
