Dolomite w/ Chalcopyrite (classic locale)

Item Description

Mineral specimens are very uncommon from this area of the famous and ancient Fe-Pb-Cu deposits of Siegerland, where mining started over 2500 years ago and the last mine closed in 1965. This very cool and RARE association piece features sharp, bronzy chalcopyrite sphenoids, to 1.3 cm, aesthetically scattered on the mounded matrix of glassy, translucent, sharp dolomite rhombs. The rhombs reach 3.8 cm on the diagonal on this classic, exceptional and excellent combination. The piece has two fine display views. Probably an old-timer, but no proof.
