Item Description
Cobalt is a fairly potent chromophore in the mineral world, creating intense hues of various colors in multiple species. The cobalt-bearing Dolomite specimens from DR Congo are some of the most vividly colored examples of the species you'll find from anywhere. The intense fuchsia hue is seldom seen in any other mineral. This piece is a lovely small cabinet display specimen featuring a central vug loaded with rich purplish-pink colored, modified compressed rhombic crystals of cobalt-bearing Dolomite, forming almost "rosette"-esque groups with fine luster and good gemminess. The crystals look great under magnification. A fine example of this truly beautiful material.
