Dolomite var: Cobalt-bearing

Item Description

An old classic specimen from the famous Mashamba West Mine in DR Congo featuring hundreds of tiny rhombic crystals of Cobalt-bearing Dolomite on both sides of the underlying matrix. The color is a pleasing purplish-pink hue, indicative of the cobalt chromophore. A tiny bit of dark green spherical Malachite can be seen on one side. A lovely piece of these now hard to find specimens from decades ago.
From the collection of Colorado mining legend, Dave Bergman. Dave is now retired, but among other things, he was the foreman and primary person in charge of recovering specimens at the famous Sweet Home Mine near Alma, Colorado during the late 1970s.
