Dolomite (rough and cut set)

Dolomite is a fairly common carbonate species, but it is not often found in gemmy / translucent crystals, let alone TRANSPARENT examples that will yield large gemstones. Here we have a fantastic rough and cut set from Eugui, Navarre, Spain which features an intergrown group of sharp, very well-formed rhombohedral crystals with a silvery-grey interior. The piece is in great shape overall, and displays quite nicely. The faceted stone is an impressive "Trillion Brilliant" cut gem with VS clarity and is nearly completely colorless, which is hard to find in stones this size from this locality. You'd be hard-pressed to find another stone this size from this locality on the market today, and the matching specimen makes the set all the more enticing. Valued $1,000.
