Item Description

Dolomite specimens are rare from this famous Greek locale, noted for for quartz prases included with green actinolite, not hedenbergite (Hyrsl and Niedermayr, 2003). Sharp, glassy, coloress, penetration-twinned dolomite crystals are sculpturally intergrown and have a nubby, tan iron oxide overgrowth. Preferentially deposited calcite rhombs with a sprinkling of rare, brassy pyrite crystals are a fine accent to this rare and excellent two-sided combination. A scratch test showed this to be dolomite, not calcite. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection.
