Item Description

I love pseudomorphs when they are pretty and sparkly, especially when both at once. In these rare specimens, one mineral has often completely replaced another but preserved the original shape of the first species, sometimes with extraordinary exact precision. Here, we have razor sharp calcite crystals in the "dogtooth" style, replaced by dolomite that glistens and sparkles (and is a bit heavier). On top of the replacement, is yet another generation of LATER calcite, as little discs floating on the points. The whole cluster is like a big starburst, floating up on a natural sphalerite pedestal of matrix! This is from the significant pseudomorph collection of Dr. Wouter Van Tichelen, of Belgium.
