Item Description
This is an attractive combination piece from the famous Eagle mine in Colorado. The 2-3 mm Sphalerites well-represent the mine with their jet-black color, which is enhanced by the excellent luster. Looking closely, you can see that many of the Sphalerite crystals are twinned. These are combined with beautiful, sharp Dolomite rhombohedra that reach up to 6-7 mm on edge. Interspersed with these are numerous mm-size Pyrites that are bright, lustrous, and highly modified. Even though a few of the Dolomites have small damage, the overall aesthetics are quite good and pleasing to the eye. This is a rare and showy small cabinet specimen.
