Item Description

This is a fantastic large cabinet display specimen, and certainly one of, it not the best example we've ever had of this hard to find material to offer in the auctions. This showy and three-dimensional display specimen features excellent quality, beautifully "curved", pearly, cream colored rhombic crystals of Dolomite measuring to about 1.8 cm, sitting atop a layer of sparkling, gemmy hexagonal Quartz crystals on a blue-grey colored matrix. The final touch to the specimen are a few bright, metallic, rich brassy colored crystals of Chalcopyrite sprinkled here and there. Excellent quality, as there no major damage to the front/display side of the piece. For what it is, this is a very impressive piece from the Eupel Mine, and would make a fantastic addition to any collection. I would put a fair market value on this one in the $1,500 range.
From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#519 D), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel. We at The Arkenstone have the privilege of offering the remainder of this great worldwide collection for the foreseeable future through our various platforms.
