Item Description

Superb cluster of well-formed and attractive Dolomites from the well-known locality of Brumado, Brazil. The largest crystal is a quite substantial 4.5 cm and it has an unusual habit for Dolomite. Overall, the main crystal is tabular, with one main face smooth and clear and the reverse face stepped so that it appears to be rounded and ridged. Not only is the habit on this reverse side rather singular, but it has a bold and dramatic pearly luster that makes that side even more distinctive. A vivid, orange-red fluorescence adds greatly to the interest and excellent asthetics of this unusual and beautiful cluster. Old Conklin label with an equally old $500 price on it. From the large worldwide collection of historical minerals, of George Elling of New Jersey.
