Item Description

The Azcárate Quarry in Spain (near the border with France) is a large Magnesite deposit, which had produced some of the finest quality examples of Dolomite ever found. These crystals are often incredibly gemmy, well-formed, sharp and good sized for the species. Typically the specimens feature only a handful of crystals, but this piece has a few dozen sharp, well-formed, colorless gemmy rhombs measuring up to 1.2 cm on matrix. The central portion of the specimen features a beautiful penetration twinned group, while seemingly the rest of the crystals are untwinned. Very minor roughness, the piece is in good condition overall. A fine classic example of these preeminent Dolomites.
