Item Description

The world's finest dolomite specimens come from two nearby magnesite quarries in Spain. This impressive and sculptural large matrix specimen is from the extinct Asturreta Quarry, source of many superlative specimens. A stunning 5.3 cm cluster of sharp, gem, highly lustrous, interpenetrating dolomite rhombs with satin lustre faces dominates this rich and showy piece. The superb 3.4 cm rhomb is the striking highlight of this cluster. The fine secondary dolomite cluster is 3.8 cm across and many more rhombs cover the matrix. The large cluster is nearly pristine, with only of bit of rubbing to a smaller rhomb edge. This exceptional large example has several fine display views.
